
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 35

Doyle, Butcher, Perdue, Dempsey,
Coleman and Ferrell)
Requesting the Governor to make suitable public notice each year
of the month of May as Motorcycle Awareness and Safety Month.
Whereas, Concern for motorcycle awareness and safety serves the
public interest of all West Virginia citizens; and
Whereas, It is appropriate that the Governor comment upon the
significance of motorcycle awareness and safety and call upon the
citizens of the state to be aware of sharing the road with
motorcyclists and of motorcycle safety programs within the state;
and
Whereas
, It serves the public interest for the Governor to
emphasize the need of the citizens to be aware of the presence of
motorcycles on our state highways; to keep the highways, roads and
streets safe for motorcyclists; to offer assistance to
motorcyclists and to share the road with motorcyclists; and
Whereas
, It is appropriate for the Governor to remind the
citizens of the state of policies with respect to safe motorcycling
and awareness herein declared and urge citizens to cooperate in
giving effect to them; and
Whereas
, It is requested that the Governor will ensure that
sufficient funds are provided in his budget to advertise the month of May as Motorcycle Awareness and Safety Month through public
service media announcements and through promotion through the
Division of Motor Vehicles, Division of Tourism and private
not-for-profit organizations, and state supported activities across
the state; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Governor make suitable public notice of the month of
May as Motorcycle Awareness and Safety Month; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House is hereby
directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Governor of
the state and to the Capitol Press Corp.
